What I Learned from cleaning
Pros: 1. To be observant 2. Can be more focused when clean 3. I Know where everything is Cons: 4. Takes extra time Cleaning may sound like a tedious task but there are a lot of benefits. You can focus more, know where everything is, and become more outgoing. First is that you won’t be distracted. When your work area is tidy you can easily focus on what you are doing. There is nothing that is taking your attention away and it helps you become more productive.
Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
Harry potter is a young special wizard because he didn't die when Vodemort, an evil wizard, tried to kill him. Unfortunately, his parents died so he was given to his aunt and her family , the Dursleys, who treated him badly. Once he was eleven he went to Hogwarts school of witches and wizards. That's where he made friends with Ron and Hermione and started learning magic. Everything was going well until weird things started happening. Harry realized that Vodermort was trying to steal the sorcerer's stone which would give him eternal life; it was his mission to stop him. Harry, Ron, and Hermione went through a lot of trouble to find where the stone was placed, but at the end Harry was the only one who got there. That’s where he found Voldemort and stopped him from taking the stone. Finally the sorcerer’s stone was destroyed and everyone survived.
Among Us
Among Us is a fun and an educational game. Learning how to play is easy, and it teaches you how to be more observant and make up tactics. The rules to among us are simple. There are imposters and crewmates. The imposters try to kill the crewmates while the crewmates try to figure out who is the imposter. If the imposters succeed then they win, same goes with crewmates. If you are a crewmate, you have to be very observant of the others around you. You have to see who is acting weird because anyone can be the imposter and kill you. If you are the imposter then you have to have a tactic on how to kill all the crewmates and not act suspicious, or else people will think you are the imposter. Overall, Among Us is a very fun , easy to learn, and educational game. You should play Among Us too!
What Makes A Movie Good
What makes a good movie? Well in my opinion what makes a good movie is an interesting story and a good plot. An interestresting story is one that is unique. Something like Harry Potter where there's adventure and excitement. It doesn't have to be an adventure but a good movie has to have emotions, or something the person watching the movie can relate to. A good plot is also important. It intrigues the person to watch more. A great plot can be from giving false clues or even just when the story takes a turn. Movies are amazing but some just stand out. The reasons why is because they have an interesting story and a good plot. What do you like in a movie?
A Very Special Day
A day in your life that you won't ever forget is a very special day. For me that day was when I Got my rabbits. I Remember that day like it was yesterday. The summer of 2020 when Ipassed both tests. Since third grade my parents said I Could get 2 rabbits if Ipassed both staar tests. I Didn't pass both tests in third grade and when COVID hit and Couldn't take the staar test for fourth grade Iwas devastated. In the summer I Thought of an amazing plan to fix that. I Told my mom if I Could pass the staar test for fifth grade that day then I Could have 2 rabbits. She agreed and Itook a printed out version of a previous fifth grade staar test. Well if you couldn't tell Ipassed. The day I Got my rabbits Iwas at my sister's house. The rabbits would be staying at my sister’s house for a few weeks. We started the day with some rabbit shopping and then we went to pick them up. Iwas so excited and when we got back we put them in their cage that we had previously set up. It's been almost 5 months of having them and I Love them. Their names are Lola and Lulu and they are now at my parents house where Ilive. That day changed my life forever and I Will not ever forget it.
12/26/2020 the Photoshoot
On December 26, 2020, my family was going to have a photoshoot at downtown Grapevine. With lights, amazing sights, historic houses, and much more you can see why I Couldn't wait to go. After my family arrived at Main street, we met up with some friends which I Hadn't seen in a while. We took pictures at three sites. The first one had a Snoopy inside the word Joy. The next one was of a humongous Santa that was so big that Ihad to climb on him so we could get a photo. We also went to a site where there was a bright red sleigh. Throughout the sites you could see historic buildings, shops, and Christmas decor/lights. My favorite decoration was the lights on the many trees they had. I Will never forget that day because Iwent to downtown Grapevine, hung out with friends, and saw so many wonderful sites.
The Bird
On December 26, 2020, I Woke up to something surprising - a bird was hitting one of my home’s windows. The bird that hit our window was a northern cardinal which is a territorial bird. It saw its reflection in the window and thought it was a different bird. Being a territorial bird and probably already claimed the territory for itself the bird tried attacking its reflection. That day we were going to go to Grapevine downtown so we had to think of a solution fast. We hung a blanket against the window and it seemed to work. The next day I Woke up to the same bird hitting the window again. My family tried to think of an idea on how to solve the problem but we couldn't think of one. Who knows when the bird will stop but until then my family will try to think of a solution. The banging is fine and the bird doesn't look hurt which is good. Do you have any suggestions? On December 26, 2020, I Woke up to something surprising - a small red bird was hitting one of my home's windows. The bird was about 6 inches tall and its feathers were scarlet. It flew around like a small red fairy, cute and petite. My family worried that the bird would hurt itself, so we tried to save it. My sister quickly searched why the poor bird was banging against the window glass, and it turned out the bird was attacking its own reflection. My dad asked on social media about the bird and most friends said it was a sign of good luck, but he knew the bird would get hurt and tried chasing it away. At the end, my family thought of a solution by hanging a dark colored blanket against the window to block the reflection. After we hung it the bird seemed to stop because we didn't hear banging for the rest of the day. I Feel happy and very proud that my family was able to save the tiny bird. I Have also learned how to research and find a solution when a problem comes.
12/27/2020 the Walk
White Rock Lake is an amazing place to go to for a walk. With animals and views that are breathtaking it’s a place a lot of people go to for a stroll. On 12/27/2020 my family went on a walk/bike ride at White Rock Lake. My family arrived at one of White Rock Lake’s parking lots and met up with some families. All the kids rode bikes with one adult and the rest of the adults walked. During the bike ride Isaw amazing views of landscapes, animals, and the amazing lake. My personal favorite scene was when me and my friends saw a yellow fury duck in the lake. On the bike ride Was the only one with an electric bike which made me not have to do any work but it was also very bumpy. When we were riding on the grass there were a lot of areas of dirt that were in a shape like a tiny hill. My bike went up and down very fast and it felt like a rollercoaster. All my friends and Itried racing each other and in many cases I Found myself head to head with someone. In this case me and one of my friends would almost bump into each other. It was very very scary but also so fun. This experience was very exciting and Iam very grateful for the wonderful time I Had. From racing my friends to studying the animals I Would definitely go back to White Rock Lake. White Rock Lake is located in Dallas and is a place many people go to. There's awesome trails to walk and most importantly a humongous lake. On December 27, 2020, I went for a bike ride at White Rock Lake. A Very Important Invention
Ever since the 1800s the evolution of humanity went up. One thing was inventions. Many of them are important but by far one of the most important inventions is the thermometer. Unlike some inventions which are not practical the thermometer is very important. The thermometer is a tool that measures the temperature of its surroundings. It is easy to read and portable. The thermometer is not used as commonly as it used to be because of remote temperature gauge but it is still very important. Some places such as Antarctica where scientists are doing research on the temperature the thermometer is more accurate then the temperature gauge and it won't break against the harsh weather. As you can see the thermometer is a very important invention. What do you think is an important invention?
(01/05/2020)Edited version:
Inventions have changed mankind but some are more important than others. Today we will be exploring one of the most crucial inventions of mankind, the thermometer. First, you need to know some things about temperature. Temperature is actually the vibration of the atoms that make up the item. Now, back in the day how the measured temperature was using a clear pipe and a special type of metal. The metal would be under the pipe so when the metal expanded people knew it was hot and when it decreased in size they would know it was cold. This method worked for a while but not for long. There was a limit to what this thing could measure because the metal could only expand and shrink so much. That's where the thermometer came in. A thermometer is actually a little bit of mercy that is put in a glass tube. It works the same as the one we just explained but it can measure higher and lower temperatures than the one before. After some calculations we were able to know the exact temperature. This invention saved and elevated mankind. Now we have things such as the temperature gauge that measures more precise measurements of temperature but the thermometer will always be important. It was an invention that evolved mankind for the better. Inventions have changed mankind but some are more important than others. Today we will be exploring one of the most crucial inventions of mankind, the thermometer. First, you need to know some things about temperature. There are four main scales that are commonly used, Fahrenheit, Celsius, Kelvin, and the Rankine scale. All of them are based on the temperature when water freezes and boils. Celsius and Fahrenheit are most commonly used. Now before ways to measure temperature was invented people didn’t know how cold or hot it was. That is where the termometer came in. A thermometer is a glass tube with a little bit of mercury in it. The mercury expands when it's hot and drinks when it's cold. After Celsius and Fahrenheit were invented and calculations were made we are now able to know what temperature it is. This invention has saved and elevated mankind. Now we have things such as the temperature gauge that measures more precise measurements of temperature but the thermometer will always be important. It was an invention that evolved mankind for the better. There are four main scales commonly used in the world today to measure temperature: - the Fahrenheit (°F) scale - Used in the United States and some parts of the Caribbean. - Created by the German scientist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit in the early 18th century. - Water freezes at 32 degrees Fahrenheit, and boils at 212 degrees F. - The coldest possible temperature, absolute zero, is -459.67 degrees F. - the Celsius (°C) scale - most of the world uses the Celsius scale - Two versions of the Celsius scale were created in the early 18th century – one by Swedish scientist Anders Celsius, and another by the French Jean Pierre Cristin. - Sometimes referred to as the centigrade scale: water freezes at 0 degrees Celsius and boils at 100 degrees C. - Each degree of Fahrenheit is 1.8 times the size of a degree Celsius. - Absolute zero falls at -273.15 degrees C. - the Kelvin (K) scale - Designed in order to set the zero point of the temperature scale at absolute zero. - Adapted from the Celsius scale in the 19th century by the British scientist William Thompson, later Lord Kelvin - You can convert from Celsius to Kelvin by adding 273.15 to a Celsius temperature. Water freezes at 273.15 K, and boils at 373.15 K. - Widely used in scientific equations and calculations. - Rankine Scale - Provides an absolute zero-based equivalent to the Fahrenheit scale. - Created by Scottish scientist William John Rankine in the 19th century, only used in some U.S. engineering fields. - You can convert from Fahrenheit to Rankine by adding 459.67. Absolute zero is thus located at 0 degrees Rankine. Water freezes at 491.67 degrees R, and boils at 671.67 degrees R. Amy, suggest you to learn how to use a table to present the four scales?

| #### (01/03/2020)Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge | ||||
| Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge is located between Texas and Oklahoma, and is famous for its seasonal birds and trails. Every winter there are millions of Snow and Ross’s geese crowd the air and lakes, this scene is very spectacular. The wildlife center was named after the old town of Hagerman which you can still go to today when you take the Audio Auto Tour Route. | ||||
| My family and I started off by walking the Goode Day Use Area. Our plan was to hike for two hours and then go to the best place to watch birds. On the hike we saw lakes, animals, and huge trees that have been on the ground since before I was born. We took a short break before going to watch Snow and Ross’s geese. Although I did research on Snow geese before, when I saw them in real life, they still took my breath. They’re feathers were as white as snow and the way they glided on the water looked effortless. When they took off, they would line up in a triangular shape and dance around the sky. I took hundreds of photos trying to capture their beauty as they flew and swam. At that moment I wished I were a Snow goose so I could freely fly around in the sky. | ||||
| Before I knew it I had to go home but I will always remember the wonderful time I had at Hagerman National Wildlife Refuge. | ||||
| #### (01/04/2020)Your Favorite Subject in School | ||||
| Everyone has a favorite subject in school. This subject could come easy to the person or they just genuinely like the subject. For me, my favorite subject is math, because it's challenging and interesting. | ||||
| For some people math can be difficult. In the beginning, it was also a challenge for me but slowly I realized math was like a big puzzle. It's challenging at the start but once you get going the pieces just start to click. As someone who loves puzzles, this way of looking at math made me intrigued. | ||||
| Once things clicked in the math world I started noticing some patterns, such as, how the math books were written to help you understand the subject. After I found these patterns it was easy to learn new concepts. The new concepts that I learned helped me understand math even better which made me feel more interested to learn more. | ||||
| My favorite subject in school is math because it's like a puzzle and is very appealing. What is your favorite subject? | ||||
| ### List 2 Qualities That Make a Good Teacher. | ||||
| Everyone has favorite teachers and we find something common about them. What makes them good and interesting, for me, I think a teacher that is understanding and doesn’t pick favorites is an amazing one. | ||||
| Everyone has their favorite teachers - we find something in common about them. To me, a good teacher is understanding and doesn’t pick favorite students. | ||||
| First is when a teacher is patient and helps a student understand the question. It makes students not feel bad and actually want to learn. They know they have a teacher they can count on. Plus, it helps the teacher know what the class is struggling to learn. | ||||
| Next is when a teacher does not pick favorites. When teachers chooses a favorite, the rest of the class feels left out. They will wonder why they aren't as preferred. Some of them will even stop trying in class because they don't think they are as excellent as the chosen one. Don't forget that the selected few will think they are better than everyone else and will grow arrogant. | ||||
| Overall, teachers are amazing but some just stand out. I think that a teacher that is understanding and doesn't choose favorites is a great teacher. | ||||
| ### Hurricanes and Tornadoes | ||||
| Hurricanes and tornadoes are two kinds of natural disasters. They are deadly and cause a lot of damage in the U.S. each year. These storms are alike in many ways, but they are also different. | ||||
| Tornadoes have a cone shaped kind of look which the narrow may appear to touch the ground. About 1,300 tornadoes hit the U.S. each year but they most frequently occur in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. They cause damage and devastation. | ||||
| Hurricanes have heavy rain and strong winds. They occur in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida. Hurricanes cause damage by flooding beaches, blowing off roofs, toppling buildings, flipping cars, and cause massive trees to fall over. | ||||
| In concussion, tornadoes and hurricanes are alike in many ways but also different. These natural disasters cause a lot of damage to people's homes and nature. | ||||
| You try to list the difference between them, the behavior, the zone, but not the cause of them, not the speed of them, and why one is called a hurricane, the other a tornado, since they are all just wind. Need a second version. This essay is too shallow, all the readers would regret wasting time on it. | ||||

| Tornadoes have a cone shaped kind of look which the narrow may appear to touch the ground. Tornadoes form when the updrafts that supply storms with warm, humid air become a vortex, or high-speed whirlwind. About 1,300 tornadoes hit the U.S. each year but they most frequently occur in Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Nebraska. They travel at an average 30mph but can go faster than 70mph. The world's deadliest tornado in the world was the Saturia tornado in Bangladesh which approximately killed 1,300 people. | ||||
They travel at an average 30mph and are formed when the warm air rises over an ocean and is replaced with cold air. The cooler air will then start to warm up and start to rise, this cycle causes huge storm clouds to form which is what turns into a hurricane. Fun fact, hurricanes were named after the Caribbean god of evil, named Hurrican. | ||||
| In concussion, tornadoes and hurricanes are alike in many ways but also different. These natural disasters cause a lot of damage to people's homes and nature. | ||||
| ### Pit Bulls | ||||
| Pit Bulls are great dogs but are very misunderstood. People are scared of them just because of what they see (see a dog or see what the dog did?). | ||||
| Pit Bulls are short haired muscular dogs and are very cute (vs. scared?) but the pictures that people post online about them causes people to be afraid of them. You can see pictures of them being very big, covered in chains, and fighting with other dogs which is not something a Pit Bull would actually do. In many areas in the U.S. they are banned or have to wear a muzzle, a device that is placed over the snout to keep it from biting. (Why? The law makers are also stupid by just some fake pictures? Not convincing.) | ||||
| In reality Pit Bulls are some of the sweetest and most lovable dogs out there. There are stories about how dogs saved their families but most of these dogs are Pit Bulls. They are very hard working dogs and are easy to train. Their short hair is easy to maintain and they are excellent with children. Pit Bulls are also healthy dogs and don't catch deceased easily and just really love humans. | ||||
| There is really no need to be afraid of Pit Bulls. They are sweet, loving, and hardworking. (repeat the last paragraph, why?) | ||||

| ### The Articles of Confederacy | ||||
| Everyone knows about the Declaration of Independence, but did you know that before that there was another law plan for the government? The Articles of Confederacy was the first ever plan for the government. | ||||
| The Articles of Confederacy was pretty simple. For example, the law stated that all of the 13 states still had their own government and if a new idea was proposed then 9 out of the 13 states had to agree on it. There were a lot of flaws with the laws though. First the government was not able to make money off of taxes. This meant the debt that was accumulated from the war was not able to be paid off. Next was that only people who volunteered to join the military could. There wasn’t enough people to protect the country. Also because 9 out of the 13 colonies had to agree, no new laws could be passed. We couldn't solve court problems because the states did not agree with each other. Last is that we didn't have a leader so no one had control of the states. Once people realized this then the Declaration of Independence was made. | ||||
| Even though the Articles of Confederacy is in the past and was not great we still learned from it. | ||||
| ### What is a Zentangle? |
Most people only know about three types of art, realistic, cartoon, and abstract. However, people get confused when they hear the word “zentangle”. So, what is zentangle? Zentangle is a form of art that is relaxing and pleasing to the eye. You draw a basic outline of a shape or thing, divide the outline into sections, then fill out the sections with simple doodles. After that you can color it or have it black and white. Most people draw zentangles in their free time but it could also be a project that takes hours. It was created in 2004 by Rick Roberts and Maria Thomas when they realized it was a calming and mindful process. A zentangle is a relaxing way to doodle. Now you can answer the question “what is a zentangle”.
Different Types of Energy
There’s many types of energy. The main five types of energy are mechanical, electrical, light, thermal, and sound(MELTS) energy. Mechanical energy is when something moves or possesses movement. When a person walks and when a fan turns, they are using mechanical energy. Mechanical energy can produce other types of electricity and vise versa. Electrical energy is the flow of an electric charge. When you charge your phone or power a lightbulb, you are using electrical energy. This type of energy is mainly used to power other types of electricity such as light or thermal energy. Light energy is when a thing produces energy that we can see. Anything from a light bulb to a tv screen produces light energy. This energy can be used at the same time as thermal and sound energy. Thermal energy is when something produces heat. When you cook food you use thermal energy, the microwave, oven, and stove. Most of the time thermal energy is combined with light energy like a fire, which you can see and produces heat. Sound energy is something we can hear. Sound energy is produced from vibrations. Things such as a piano or when an alarm clock rings produce sound energy. Now you have a gist on what the 5 main types of energy are (MELTS).
| Type of energy | Definition | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Mechanical | when energy moves or possesses movement | A person walking or a fan |
| Electrical | flow of an electric charge | Charging your phone or powering a light bulb |
| Light | when energy produces energy that we can see | A lamp or a tv screen, |
| Thermal | when energy produces heat | Microwave or fire |
| Sound | Energy we can hear | Someone playing piano or the radio |
Illustration
You know when you are reading a book that you come across drawings, those are called illustrations. Even on the front cover you can see who illustrated the book: illustrated by *. These little drawings make the book fun and help the reader better understand what's going on. What is illustration? An illustration is a visual way of explaining what's going on in a book or passage. It helps the reader picture what’s going on better. An illustrator(a person who illustrates) will read the passage or book and will draw out what they picture. This drawing could be black and white or colorful. Most times in books the illustration will have an overall theme to it. For example, children's books tend to be more cartoony and cute while in chapter books, the illustration captures the action on what's happening. The drawing has to go with the book. You can't have a book about dogs and the drawing being a monkey. An illustration is a visual way of explaining what's going on in a book or passage.

The Judicial Branch
The judicial branch of government is made up of the Supreme Court. It was established by the Constitution while other federal courts were established by Congress. The Supreme courts decide arguments about the meaning of laws, how laws are applied, and whether laws break the rules of the congress.
The Supreme Court hears cases that have made their way through the lower court system. The supreme court takes about 80 to 100 cases a year. There are nine Supreme Court Justices who are appointed by the president.
The judicial branch of government is made up of the Supreme Court which is the highest court in the land. It was established by the Constitution while other federal courts were established by Congress.
The Supreme courts decide arguments about:
- The meaning of laws
- How laws are applied
- Whether laws break the rules of the Constitution
The Supreme Court hears cases that have made their way through the lower court system.
- There are more than 7,500 cases sent to the Supreme Court each year.
- Only about 80 to 100 cases are actually accepted.
- There are nine Supreme Court Justices, one of the nine being the Chief Justice.
- The Justices of the Supreme Court are appointed by the President, approved by the Senate, and can serve for life.
The Legislative Branch
The U.S. Congress is made up of two parts, the House of Representatives and the Senate. Congress meets at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Its primary duty is to write, debate, and pass bills, which are then passed on to the President for approval to become laws. In the house, representation is based on the number of people living in each state. Therefore, states with larger populations have more representation than states with smaller populations. Each state has at least one representative in the House. Each representative serves a term of 2 years. When the term is over, people from that state may choose to elect a new representative or keep the same one. To be a representative you must: - Be at least 25 years old - Be a U.S. citizen for the past 7 years - Live in the state you represent Each of the 50 states sends 2 people to the Senate, so there are a total of 100 senators. This means that each state has equal representation in the Senate. Each senator serves a term of 6 years. When their 6-year term is over, the people from that state may choose to elect a new senator or keep the same one. To run for senate you must: - Be at least 30 years old - Be a U.S. citizen for the past 9 years - Live in the state you represent In addition to making laws, the House and the Senate each have some special duties: Senate can: - Vote on any treaties the president makes - Review and approve presidential appointees, such as cabinet secretaries and supreme court justices - Hold a trail for a government official who does something wrong, House of Representatives can: - Recommend tax bills to become law - Decide if a government official should be put on trial before the senate if she/he commits a crime against the country

For example, in the US you have the freedom of speech no matter which state you live in. While a privilege is an opportunity that not everyone gets. Things such as meeting your idol or someone famous. The main difference is that a right is something everyone gets while a privilege is something not everyone gets. | ||

| Most people get the words privilege and right messed up because they don't know the difference. In the passage we will define and compare privilege and right. | ||
| A right is a freedom given to everyone. This freedom can not be taken away and you are born with. For example freedom of speech is a right. You don't need to earn a right and it doesn’t affect anyone. While a privilege is something not everyone gets. For example getting a driver's license or going to college. You have to do something(s) for a privilege, like pay money and work hard, you can’t do whatever you want once you get a privilege, and you meet a standard criteria before receiving the privilege. If you don't follow the law while driving, you could get your licence taken away. The main difference is that a right is something everyone has while a privilege is something not everyone gets. | ||

| #### (02/18/2021)The Dangers of Overfishing and By-catch | ||
| A bottlenose dolphin was found on the shore tangled in fishing nets. This is called by-catch and happens to marine animals every year. By-catch is when a fisherman accidentally catches something besides the target fish. This plus overfishing, which is when you fish too much, causes major problems in the ocean. - This paragraph defines by-catch, and a summary conclusion of both by-catch and overfishing. | ||
| When fishermen or people overfish, they are decreasing the population of the type of fish. This comes with consequences of marine animals not having enough to eat and will make the process of reproducing the fish unstable. This could take over 20 years for the ocean to heal from such an occurrence. - but this paragraph defines overfishing only, so what is the role of the first paragraph? | ||
| By- catch affects marine animals with no moral purpose. It's normally by accident but can take millions of dollars to rehabilitate the animals. That means leaving its family and having to go through treatment. Sometimes this results in the death of the animal. - this paragraph jumps back to the consequence of by-catch, with a syntax issue. Readers have no clue why the whole article is so unbalanced, messed. | ||
| You see that overfishing and by-catch are dangerous and should be avoided. | ||
| Overfishing and by-catch cause problems in the ocean everyday. In passage we will show you the problems they cause and define them. | ||

| #### (02/28/2021)Tokyo | ||
| Dear dad(Sean), | ||
| Once we travel again, I would like to go to Tokyo, Japan. Tokyo is the capital of Japan and there are many things that you can do there. | ||
| First I would love to visit the TeamLab Borderless Digital Art Museum. Rooms covered with mirrors with hanging light gives the illusion that you are standing in a field of endless light. It would make a great family photo and learning experience. We will get to explore a new type of art. Some of my friends, like Vivienne, have already been there and say that it was amazing. In third grade our art teacher showed us a video of the Digital Art Museum and it looked like you were floating. | ||
| I would also like to go to the Sensoji Temple. It is one of the budaist temples in Japan and I would like to compare the temple with the one that we went to in China. It doesn't cost money to go and it would be a great place for you to tell about Buda. I would love to explore the buildings around it and of course the Temple. There will be different types of snacks to try and there is a shopping center not far from the temple. | ||
| These are just two of the many places I want to go to in Tokyo. I hope after quarantine that we can go. | ||
| Sincerely, | ||
| Amy | ||
| #### (03/03/2021)Why We Don't Need the Second Amendment | ||
| The constitution has 27 amendments and the first 10 are called the Bill of Rights. The question is are all of these Bill of Rights important? In my opinion I say no, I think the 2 amendment is not important. | ||
| The second amendment states that every citizen, meaning nonmilitary, can own a gun. It does not state how the gun may be used but just that you can own one. Instead I feel like that only if you have a purpose for the gun, such as hunting, then you may own one. If you are caught using a gun for another purpose then what you are supposed to do then the government has the right to the gun away. This would make citizens less scared because no one was a gun. Also this will prevent crime, such as bank robberies, because there isn’t a gun. The one exception is that every important business or factory can have one gun that needs a key to get to. This is just for emergencies. | ||
| As you can see, there really isn’t a real need for the second amendment. What amendment from the Bill of Rights do you think is not important? | ||
| #### (03/04/2021)Why Drawing In Black And White Is Important | ||
| Most of the world's best drawings or drawings in museums are colorful. Very rarely would you ever come across a black and white drawing. However black and white drawings are very important in the art world. | ||
| Black and white seems boring but it is the foundation for all art. Now black and white is normally drawn with charcoal and pencil. These drawings help you establish shadows and light directions. Without this your paintings or drawings would look flat and unrealistic. If you want to draw realism then you have to master black and white before you add color. Black and white drawing take away the color which may confuse you on where the light is coming from and depth. | ||
| If you ever want your drawing to look real then you must master black and white drawing first. | ||
| #### (03/05/2021)Demcratic-Republican | ||
| After world war 1 America won its independence from Britain. Everyone elected Whasington as the new president. Washington was in charge of building a cabinet, the president's cabinet, which back then consisted of four roles, secretary of state, secretary of treasury, secretary of war, and attorney general. | ||
| Now the secretary of state, Thomas Jefferson, was against the secretary of treasury, Alexander Hamilton, and vise versa. Jefferson believed that the states should have more power then the government while Hamilton believed that the government should have most of the power and the states have little. These beliefs turned into the first major two political parties. Jefferson’s party was called the Demecratic-Republicans. Hamilton’s party was called the Federalist. | ||
| After Hamilton died the Demecratic-Republicans took power. Almost no one was a Federalist anymore. Since the Demecratic-Republican had no competition, people in that party started disagreeing with one another, which led to what is the two major political parties today, Demecratic and Rebulican. | ||
| #### (03/10/2021)Write about a time you helped someone or someone had helped you. | ||
| Have you ever thought to help a furry friend? Animals need help just as much as people. Yes, of course you can say that people are animals and that's true but us as people have that responsibility to take care of the things around us. | ||
| When I was in 4th grade I came up with the idea of a business. I would draw people's pets, they would pay a small sum of money, then all of the profit would be donated to a shelter. I decided to evite two of my friends, Vivienne and Helene, to join my business for some help. | ||
| We built a google website and made a few orders. Finally we collected enough money to donate to a shelter. On the weekend all three of use plus our parents went to Walmart to buy supplies. We got treats, food, toys, pill pockets, and some cleaning supplies. Before long we had spent almost all of our money. | ||
| Helene, Vivienne, and I went to one of the shelters and donated. We took our extra money and donated that as well. We got to feed the dogs and see some puppies! They were all so cute and no one wanted to leave. There was this one dog who was a pretty big dog and he/she would spin each time one of use gave him/her a treat. It was an overall great experience. | ||
| Me and my friends' business stopped after that since it was now summer break and we were all too busy. Even though we no longer have a business it was still such a cherisible experience and memory. I will never forget that time especially since it taught me that animals depend on our help and that donating to a local animal shelter is one of the best to do that. | ||
| #### (03/12/2021)The Louisiana Purchase | ||
| After America won its independence from Britain, America started expanding. People wanted more people to live in the USA so more land was needed. The first time America expanded was the Louisiana Purchase. | ||
| During Adams’ Presidency the United States got into a conflict with France .Now, when Thomas Jefferson was elected president, France claimed the Mississippi River. The Mississippi River contained the port of New Orleans which is where America traded a lot. | ||
| Jefferson wanted to buy the port and maybe a little land around it. He sent James Monroe to buy the land from France with 10 million dollars. France on the other hand needed money for war, and decided to sell the whole Mississippi River and land around it for 15 million dollars. Jefferson decided to buy all of the land. The Louisiana Purchase doubled the size of what America was. | ||
| The Louisiana Purchase is a very important purchase in the history of America. | ||
| #### (03/24/2021)Leading Up to the War Of 1812 | ||
| France and Great Britain were in a war, and neither wanted their enemy to trade with the United States. Britain started to block French ports and threatened Americans about attacking their ships. The British also impressed American sailors, forcing them to work for Britain. Back then British soldiers lived in what's now Canada and was thought of to have supplied weapons to the Native Americans. The intent was believed that the British wanted the Native Americans to be ready to attack Americans but that was never proven. | ||
| In June 1812, president James Madison declared war on Great Britain. Americans felt the need to push Britain out of Canada so settlers wouldn’t have as much conflict with the Native American. America tried several times but was overall unsuccessful. One thing though, American Navy was able to defeat British Navy several times. The American warship, USS Constitution, was nicknamed “Old Ironsides” because of its thick wood sides that bombs seemed to bounce off of. Along with Oliver Hazard Perry in commend, American ships defeated the British in the battle on Lake Erie. | ||
| In return British set fire to Washington D.C. Everyone had to evacuate including the president Madison. All important government buildings were burned. | ||
| #### (03/26/2021)The War of 1812 Part 2 | ||
| On September 13, 1814, the British tried to capture the city of Baltimore, Maryland, which contained Fort McHenry. They did not succeed as America would not surrender the fort. During this battle an American lawyer, Francis Scott Key, was inspired to write a poem. Initially he was sent there to negotiate a treaty with Britain, but was kept as prisoner after hearing about an attack the British were going to make. The Poem was “The Star Spangled Banner” and is now America's national anthem. | ||
| At the end of 1814, Britain and America had been fighting for more than 2 years. No one was winning so a peace treaty was signed in Ghent, Belgium, December 1814. It took several weeks for the news of the treaty to be passed back to America. In 1815, after the treaty was signed, British attacked the Port of New Orleans. General Andrew Jackson along with an army of soldiers from southern states, pirates, and free African Americans defended the city. During the battle the British suffered more than 2,000 casualties and the Americans only lost around 71. | ||
| When the War of 1812 was over America felt much more confident about their new nation. The War of 1812 became known as “the second war of independence.” |
